Her adopted brother goes missing, and her only friend helps her escape and search for him. (Based on Amazon summary) Category YA Fantasy, Sci-Fi Why I chose this book Rated highly on Amazon, recommended based on reading history My personal opinion (the review) The book is excellently written. It has a bit of a Dune feel to it, because of the names and the city in a desolated area. And it has a bit of a Percy Jackson feel to it, because of the interaction between immortals and humans. And it has a Young Adult Fiction feel to it, because of the teen angst-y love situations. Warnings Language:  some minor; several uses of a fictitious swear word Violence: some, but pretty minor "Adult" situations: references to prostitutes Death: yes, and of m

Rump by Leisl Shurtliff

Brief synopsis (no spoilers) The story of Rumpelstiltskin from childhood through the well known fairy tale from his point of view. Category Children's fiction Why I chose this book It was on the SC Book Award Nominee shelf at library and because I love fairy tale stories. My personal opinion (the review) I really enjoyed it and so did my 8 year old twin daughters. I liked the background the author added to the traditional story and I liked that he was/became the good guy. Warnings Language: none Violence: a little, rump isn't well liked by the popular kids and gets bullied "Adult" situations: none (it's a children's book!) Death: one of the supporting characters dies Movie rating equivalent PG Protagonist description Small for a boy, weak, nice, doesn't like his name Point of view of story 1st person, rump Book length Short for adults, medium for kids Story flow Good Grammar and spelling issues None Character connectio

In addition, Magician Thane has temporarily transferred her to another Magician for her Magician test, to dispel rumors of favoritism. Category YA Fiction Why I chose this book Final in the series My personal opinion (the review) This book was excellent. Lots of action, great plot line, credible characters, and it tied up all of the loose ends nicely. Sometimes the final book in a series is a let-down, but this one definitely does not disappoint! Warnings Language: none Violence: some, but very mild "Adult" situations: none, very "proper" behavior Death: some, and of major characters Movie rating equivalent PG-13 Protagonist description Ceony continues as the brilliant star of the series, and she's more con
