Brief synopsis (no spoilers)
Aliens invade earth on Columbus Day, and the earth's best protective forces were completely capable of stopping them. They looked like man-sized hamsters. The only reason earthlings are still around is because another alien force came behind the hamsters and saved them. Now the allied aliens want Earth soldiers to help them fight in a galactic war.

My personal opinion (the review)
I was immediately gripped by the story. The narrator is witty and entertaining. The plot seems awesome, and I have a feeling it's going to take some pretty engaging twists. But I can't take the language anymore. It was pretty clean for about the first fourth of the book, but I only got a bit farther- about a third of the way through- before it became impossible to look past the f-bombs. This is the first book of the series. I will not finish or recommend this book, and I will not continue the series.
Warnings
Language: Yes, and increasing in frequency and severity as the book progresses
Violence: Some fighting, but nothing graphic, as of one third through
"Adult" situations: Romance, but no detail at all
Death: Unsure- none as of one third through
Movie rating equivalent
R, for language
Protagonist description
Joe is active duty military, and becomes active duty space military- with all that that implies
Point of view of story
First, from Joe's perspective
Book length
Medium
Story flow
Excellent
Grammar and spelling issues
Many. Missing words, incorrect words, grammar mistakes. None of it was really distracting until the language became too much, then it became very obvious. The author uses commas like they're going out of style.
Character connection (no spoilers)
