Brief synopsis (no spoilers): Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison--even though she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive if she does--in this second installment from Marissa Meyer.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana. (Amazon)

Why I chose this book: Second in the series
My personal opinion: I only got about 100 pages in before I put this book down. Cinder only go a so-so review from me to begin with, so I wasn't expecting much, but after reading about professional fighting and characters tracking through sewer pipes there just wasn't enough to keep me reading.
Warnings (language, violence, "adult" situations, death, etc.) - Professional fighting, bar fights, torture (passive description), kidnapping, breaking the law, vivid descriptions of mechanical body parts (not graphic at all, but the idea of hooking Cinder's head to a power outlet kind of gave me (and the other character) the heebee jeebees).
Movie rating equivalent: PG-13 (as far as I read)
Protagonist description: Scarlet seems strong and willing to stand up for what she believes in, but with the loss of her Grandmother and torturing of her father she seems to be "lost."
Point of view of story: Switches between Cinder and Scarlet
Book length: Didn't finish
Story flow: Choppy
Grammar and spelling issues: None.
Character connection (no spoilers): None
For series:
Independent or integral: Integral
Series review as a whole: Cinder was okay, but I didn't get more than 100 pages into Scarlet.
If you only have time for one, read: Cinder
