Brief synopsis:
Clara, her sister Maren - the mermaid (to be), and their adoptive auntie living in a small village. The highlight of the year is the visit (or two) from Scarff and O'Neill, the traveling merchants.
As Maren turns 16 she begins her transformation to a mermaid. It's a race to get Maren to her true home, the sea, before it's too late.
Why I chose the book:
It was a kindle first free book my husband downloaded and never read that was available when I had time to read.
My personal opinion:
I really enjoyed it.
It ends how I had hoped but didn't see it heading in that direction until the end. It is full of emotion and feelings and enough bad guys for plot without being too creepy for me. It has some magic and mystery. It is clean. It has a love story.
And I would recommend it.
Warnings:
There is a tiny bit of violence and death, but it's minimal and mild and just gives opposition.
Movie rating equivalent:
PG
Protagonist description:
Well mannered, modest, and quiet young girl (Clara)
Point of view of story:
Clara
Book length:
Couple hours, short to medium
Story flow:
Mostly moving from one thing to the next, but not so fast that descriptions of scenes and feelings were omitted
Grammar and spelling issues:
None
Character connection:
I loved them all, but no connection to me
(I don't believe this book is going to be a series. It's the first published book for this author.)
