Brief synopsis (no spoilers):
There are 7 Mages and 1 Magemother that keep the world in balance. The Magemother and a couple of the Mages have gone missing, so things are starting to get weird. A 14-year old girl from Earth gets pulled into the situation by a magical summoning bell, and she'll never be the same again.

This story was excellent. I agree with the author that this is a quick, fun read. It won't reach the top of my favorites list, but it is good enough that I have already recommended it to every YA reader I know.
