Brief synopsis (no spoilers): The 6 Elite are now down to 4 and the race for the crown is on. There are new developments with the rebels. The King starts manipulating America more and more. And Will America finally make the decision of where her heart lies?
Category: YA
Why I chose this book: Third in the series
My personal opinion (the review): It's really down to the wire with only four girls left. Things start to pick up and get more interesting. However, as I have said all along America's waffling drives me insane. At the end of the last book she said she finally decided on Maxon, but she still spends most of this book trying to decide what she really wants.
Warnings
Language: Half a dozen
Violence: Rebel attacks, blood used to write on the walls, interior palace destruction, gun shot and non-descriptive rudimentary medical care.
"Adult" situations: Some descriptions of intimacy went further than I would have liked, but I have a low tolerance. All instances ended before they went "too far," but I would be cautious about letting early teens read it.
Death: Minor characters
Movie rating equivalent: PG:13
Protagonist description: America still drives me crazy with not being able to make up her mind. Sometimes she seems so strong and other times she just caves and wants to give up on everything.
Point of view of story: First
Book length: Short
Story flow: Slow, but fluid
Grammar and spelling issues: None
Character connection (no spoilers): None

For series:
Independent or integral: Integral as third in a series.
Series review as a whole: Very slow but there was enough the keep me reading the entire series (plus the extras).
If you only have time for one, read: (which one): The Selection as first in the series, but don't waste your time.
