Brief synopsis (no spoilers): June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps Elect while Day has been assigned a high level military position. But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them once again. Just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything he has. (Amazon)

Why I chose this book: Third and final book in the series
My personal opinion: There was less direct violence in this book compared to the first two and much more political involvement by all the characters. I didn't really like the turn that the story took for Day. It didn't really seem to fit with what the book was leading up to at this point. I am glad that June ends up back in the military where she feels most comfortable. Day and June's relationship got a little too touchy-feely for me.
I have a love/hate relationship with the ending/epilogue of the story. I felt like the the actual ending was a cop-out, especially after everything Day and June went through, but I think the author did a brilliant job with her description of what has transpired for June in the ten years since the end of the story.

Warnings:
Language: Half a dozen or so instances
Violence: Compared to the first two, this book had less violence, but there were still bombs and things
"Adult" situations: A few teenage love scenes (They get a bit touchy-feely) and one bedroom scene with a few details before "cut to the next morning"
Other: Day smokes a hallucinogenic as part of his treatment for his disease Movie rating equivalent: R, violence and adult situations
Protagonist description: *Spoiler*
Now that Day is sick he has lost a bit of his edge as a character. He's weak now and I didn't feel like that played well with the story.
June: I do feel like June handled herself well and I'm glad that she knew herself well enough to turn down the being Princeps Elect.
Point of view of story: Switches between Day and June, clearly marked
Book length: Medium
Story flow: Fluid
Grammar and spelling issues: None
Character connection: I didn't have any character connections (except maybe feeling bad for Anden), however I would like more description on Antarctica and their way of life/technology.
For series:
Independent or integral: Integral
Series review as a whole: Though darker and more violent than the usual teen dystopian novel I really enjoyed this series.
If you only have time for one, read: Legend, need to start at the beginning
