 My personal opinion (the review)
With the last book, the superhuman/alien aspect seemed almost believable. John and Henri were fallible and almost fragile. With this book, Six is completely unbeatable, so it's losing credibility. Rather, I'm able to separate my imagination from it, not dive in so deeply. Still a great book, but it could have used a bit of realism or a bit of failure, maybe.

Death: yes, and of several major characters
"Adult" situations: teen love and some kissing, but nothing uncomfortable

 Protagonist description
John is superhuman, but he's struggling with very human emotions and reactions. Marina is also superhuman, but young, so she hasn't discovered all of her abilities yet. She has to fend for herself, mostly.

I'm really enjoying this series! Something that's a bit weird to me is that the e-book versions have excerpts of around 4-5 other books in the series. So, the actual books are done around the 85 percent mark. But back to enjoying the series, I feel connections with the characters, I love the special powers, and I like that they're coming together. I believe this will win my Favorite Series of the Year Award.

Brief synopsis (no spoilers): Two main stories: Carol, the daughter of Lord Rafel, wants to be a magic wielder. As she learns magic and grows in strength, she is unaware that she is being hunted by the greatest wielder in the world. The second story is about a ward of Rafel's, named Blade, who becomes an infamous assassin and works for the king. The king sends Blade to kill Rafel and Carol, but he warns them to flee instead.
